Marietta — Dr. Richard H. Greene, Sr., 70, of Marietta
died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at First United Methodist Church in Marietta.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church
parlor. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18,
2011, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services with the Rev. Bill
Dupree officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services.
Dr. Greene was born in Americus, Ga.. He was a graduate of the
University of Georgia and Veterinary Medical College in 1964. He
practiced in Americus until 1984, and subsequently owned Twilley-Greene
Animal Clinic in Marietta, Ga., until his death. Dr. Greene was an Eagle
Scout and received the Boy Scouts highest honor, the Silver Beaver
Award. He served as Scout Master of Troop 21 in Americus, Ga., for many
years and was a volunteer for Troop 277 in Marietta. Dr. Greene served
as president of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association for one year
and was an active member until his death. He was a member of First
Methodist Church in Marietta, Ga.
In addition to his family, Dr. Greene is survived by his former wife of
24 years, Mary Moseley Greene, his beloved staff including Bobbie
McGarity and Wanda O’Neal, and a host of friends and clients. Survivors
include one daughter, Angel G. Louge and Blair of Bluffton, S.C., two
sons, Richard H. Greene Jr. and Sandy of Cartersville, Ken R. Greene and
Amy of Lumpkin; three sisters, Grace Pace of Perry, Mildred McMillan of
Tonganoxie, Kans., Julia Neel of Thomasville, Ga.; three brothers,
William L. Greene of Monk’s Corner, S.C., Jimmy P. Greene of Americus,
David A. Greene of Americus; four granddaughters, Rebecca K. Greene,
Riley Greene, Kanyon Evelyn Greene, Cedar Parker Greene; one grandson,
Joey Louge; nieces and nephews. Dr. Greene is preceded in death by his
granddaughter, Mary Elaine Greene.
